Manutuke Herbs would not be what it is today without gardens so we are celebrating with a cake for our bird friends.
Using a combination of seeds, grains, dried fruit and vegetable fat, you can entice birds into your garden anytime of year to help pollinate your plants and as a bonus devour pests like slugs and snails.

To make: mix seeds (a great use for last years sunflower heads), unsalted peanuts, oats or wheat (or bread crumbs), sultanas, raisins or what ever you may have in the pantry. Mix with enough vegetable fat to form a ball then chill in the fridge until set. You can place in containers or use twine to wrap and hang in trees then sit back and enjoy watching the birds feast on their very own cake!
